Those of you who work regularly in cold conditions have more to worry about than just being uncomfortable. Cold working conditions can actually lead to health hazards that you need to protect yourself against. During this session, we’ll tell you what hazards to look out for and how you can keep yourself safe—and warm!

Why “Working in Cold Conditions” Matters:
- The biggest health risk of being overexposed to the cold is getting hypothermia.
Key Points:
- Working in the cold presents a variety of hazards you need to be aware of—and protect against.
- Your first line of defense against cold hazards should be engineering controls.
- It doesn’t have to be below freezing for you to be at risk—a temperature of 65 degrees Fahrenheit may be enough to put you at risk.
- Try to keep snow and ice off of your body—especially when you are going inside, where it will melt and make your clothing wet.
