Course Description:

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 is a federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination based on sex in education programs and activities that receive federal financial assistance.


This course will refresh learners on what is considered sex discrimination and their obligations to report.

At the completion of this course, the participant will be able to:

  • Identify your legal obligation to address sex discrimination under Title IX in its education programs and activities
  • Understand the definition of sex-based harassment
  • Recognize conduct that constitutes sex discrimination under Title IX
  • Act on the obligation to notify the school’s Title IX coordinator when the employee has knowledge about possible sex discrimination
  • Act on the obligation to promptly provide a student who is pregnancy or has a related condition, with the Title IX Coordinator’s contact information and inform that person that the Title IX Coordinator can coordinate specific actions to prevent sex discrimination and ensure the student’s equal access to the recipient’s education program or activity.
