Saving Energy at Work and Beyond

Course Description:

In this session, you’ll learn key terms, such as “conservation” and “sustainability”; energy conservation and why it is important; facts about energy use, including nonelectrical energy; costs of using and wasting energy; and tips, strategies, and opportunities for saving energy.

Course Duration: 22 minutes

Why “Saving Energy at Work and Beyond” Matters:

Because fossil fuels, such as coal, oil, and natural gas, are nonrenewable energy sources—this means that once they are used up, they are gone!

Burning fossil fuel to generate electricity is the largest man-made source of carbon dioxide (CO2)—the main greenhouse gas (GHG) and the main cause of climate change.

Pollution from fossil fuel power plants causes premature death, heart attacks, and other health effects.

Key Points:

  • Think conservation 24 hours a day—at work, at home, and while commuting.
  • Develop a routine that makes you the most efficient.
  • Strive for continuous improvement.
  • Find new ways to conserve energy, and share those new ways with your fellow employees, friends, and family members.
  • And finally, remember that saving your organization money is good for you, too!
