Earthquakes, hurricanes, tornadoes, floods, and severe storms often occur with some warning, but it’s important that you take precautions in order to stay safe. And, while it’s usually the exception, remember that sometimes these disasters come on quickly, so preparation is key. Today, we’ll talk more about what to do if a weather emergency threatens your facility or your home.

- Identify the hazards that different weather events can create in order to help you better prepare and stay safe.
- Realize the importance of focusing on management’s instructions during a weather emergency.
- Recall the applicable components of the emergency action plan, or EAP, that the Occupational Safety and Health Administration requires at your facility.
- Identify the elements of the EAP you should include in an emergency plan for your family at home.
- List the necessary emergency supplies that should be stored at home and in your vehicle.
