
Laundry Safety
Course Description:
People who work in laundry areas are exposed to potentially infectious materials, repetitive motions, excess heat, and other hazards that can cause injury and illness. This training course is for workers at commercial and institutional laundry services who collect, sort, wash, dry, press, and fold laundry, to help them identify the hazards that can cause injuries and illnesses, and adopt safe practices to prevent and control exposure to the hazards in laundry areas.

Why “Laundry Safety” Matters:
At the completion of this course, the participant will be able to:
- Recognize the hazards and workplace conditions that lead to infectious illness, musculoskeletal disorders, heat stress, and other injuries and illnesses of laundry work
- Describe best practices to prevent illnesses from infectious agents and heat stress
- Recall measures to avoid actions that can cause musculoskeletal disorders, and slips and falls
- Explain measures to prevent injuries from machine motion and energy, chemical exposures, excessive noise, hot surfaces, and fire
