Forklifts are essential pieces of equipment that help us move mountains of heavy materials. But forklifts are also dangerous—especially to people working or walking near them. Stay alert and take proper precautions to protect your safety. Otherwise, you could be seriously injured or even killed by a forklift.

Key Points:
- Getting struck by a forklift or falling object, getting caught between a forklift and object, falling off a forklift, fires, and chemical burns are examples of hazards to pedestrians from forklifts.
- Blocked line of site and obstructions in aisleways are risk factors that increase the chance of forklift/ pedestrian incidents.
- A danger or caution sign is a worksite safety control that helps protect pedestrians from contact with forklifts.
- A forklift yielding the right-of-way to a pedestrian is a safe work practice to prevent incidents.
- Incident reports can be used to correct problems and prevent injuries in the future.
